BIOEFFERVESENCE

The Department of Biotechnology organized their annual inter-collegiate academic festival Bioeffervescence on 27th august, 2011 this year. The festival was organized and conducted by the SYBSc students. It is a platform provided to the second year students to learn the skills of organizing and managing a large scale event independently. Although the teachers do participate and give their timely inputs, the event is largely a student endeavor.

This was the 5th successful year of this prestigious event. The theme for this year was REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE, and RECHARGE keeping in mind the dire condition that human society has brought upon our planet. Rather than keeping a theoretical and somewhat philosophical theme of environment conservation, the students decided to put the theory into practice and have a more proactive theme.

The departmental magazine with the same name as the event was also released on the day of the event. It published many articles contributed by the students and a cover story on environmental conservation.

There were in total 7 main events LUCK BY CHANCE (BIO-HOUSIE), PSEUDOHUNT, BIO FORUM (SEMINAR PRESENTATION), BRAIN MAPPING (QUIZ), AJAB MICROBES KI GAZAB KAHANI (SKIT), BIOE- da VINCI (POSTER PAINTING), CULTURE STREAKING. All over Mumbai 30 colleges were invited and a total of 170 students participated in the festival. The best college award was bagged by the KBP College, Vashi. The main sponsors’ of the festival were MAPLE and PREMIER ENTERPRISES. The other co-sponsors’ were NAROSA PUBLICATIONS, ARENA ANIMATION, CRIMSON, SAITECH ENGINEERING WORKS, CRYSTAL INDUSTRIAL PVT. LTD.
