“IMPRESSIONS” the annual BMM festival, was conducted on the 5th, 6th and 7th of December, 2008 at the V.E.S College campus by the Mass Media students. The festival was based on the theme “Media Uncensored”- an initiative to unravel and analyze the realities of today's media.
The event proved plausible due to the support of the sponsors, namely: CRY (Child Rights & You – main festival partner), Buckaroo Shoes, Fever 104 FM (official radio partner), Corporate Stationary (creative partner), Ferns and Petals, Le Café (hospitality partner), Campus Junkie (website partner), Fable Films (filming partner), Globus, MAAC, Catalyst Classes, etc.
Day One saw the inauguration of the festival by the chief guest Mr. Shashi Nair, a well-known commercial photographer. Six events followed the inauguration ceremony which included events like cartooning, dialogue presentation, script writing, crisis management (in association with our official NGO partner CRY), spoofing, and media quiz. The day also featured the Rally event by the participating students as a part of Social Awareness Campaign.

The finale of the festival showcased the filming talent of the media students through the film festival “I- Talkies”, judged by renowned film director Onir of “My Brother Nikhil” fame, Mr. Tusshar and Mr. Jitendra Sharma (film directors and producers) and Mr. Rajeev Masand, the renowned film critic. The film festival showcased short films, commercial ads and PSAs, music videos and trailers made by many talented media students from across colleges. Also, the grand finale was put forth in the realms of the much anticipated band event which included performances by the well known bands Dhwani, Coshish and ATKT. A spectacular performance was also put forth by Raman Mahadevan, the famous singer of 'Taare Zameen par' and ‘Rock On!’ fame.
The finale also featured the prize distribution ceremony in the presence of Chief Guest Mr. Dale Bhagwagar, a famous PR Personnel of the industry, where Wilson College and Ruia College were declared as the Best Participating Colleges in the event.
The festival was made successful with the participation of eighteen colleges from across the city in almost all the events with approximately 435 students.
With the help and support of sponsors, management of the college and the efforts of all BMM students, IMPRESSIONS was invariably a success with everybody. The media houses that came to cover the event included: IBN Lokmat, NMTV, Voice of India etc., which helped create awareness and at the same time increased publicity of the festival as well as of the college.
The event was technically sound in terms of logistics (tents and kiosk set up, stage set up, sound and lights etc.) and stationary supplies for the events. The organization managed to bring into force umpteen ranks of superiority and class in creation, management and conduct of all the events on all three days of the festival without many holdups. With security measures ensured, the events ran smoothly and efficiently.
On a concluding note, IMPRESSIONS managed to reach out successfully to the students of the college as well as those of the participating colleges in a manner that will definitely be beneficial and helpful to all in the future. The accomplishment is credited to the co-ordination and support of the college management with the students of BMM section.
